Hint: Maximize Leons Lifebar
This process incurs several continues, which have no bearing on the game's ending. At the first El Gigante fight, there is a Yellow Herb in the boss arena. Take this item and combine it with any of the Green Herbs in the same room and use it. This increases Leon's lifebar slightly.

Now let the boss kill Leon. Since the boss' room is at a map transition (the green OPEN command is a dead giveaway), this lets you continue right at the boss fight but with Leon's life increase from your previous attempt. Repeating this process will increase Leon's lifebar to maximum prematurely. Extra Yellow Herbs found later can be given to Ashley, or sold to the merchant for money.

Hint: Snake in the Box
Sometimes when you destroy the wooden crates a snake will jump out and bite you. If you keep slashing with your knife when the box breaks you can kill the snake and receive a healing egg.

Hint: Reload Your Upgraded Gun
Whenever you upgrade your gun's capacity it fills the weapon with ammo. So don't reload before you buy the upgrade. This works great with weapons that have very little ammo (such as the magnum revolver 'Broken Butterfly'); after you use up the gun's magazine, simply look for the merchant and upgrade the ammo capacity.
Hint: Quick Aiming
There is a quick way to center your gun when aiming up or down. Simply tap the L1 button (takes out your knife) and you will quickly aim straight ahead.

In Chapter 1-1, along the path towards the village you will run along a white dog trapped in a bear trap. If you help this dog he comes in handy later when you are fighting Los Gigante for the first time. About midway through the fight, you will hear the dog bark and he will come to your aid. Los Gigante becomes distracted, and begins to attack the dog rather than you.

Hint: Double Broken Butterfly Ammo
If you buy the broken butterfly before you find it, you can hold twice the ammo. The shopkeeper will not sell you this gun if you already have it.
Hint: Exclusive Weapon Powers
Each weapon has a special "exclusive power" when all of its stats are custom tuned to the maximum:
Handgun - Increases the chance of a headshot being fatal by a factor of five (5% or 20%, take your pick).
Punisher - Each bullet can penetrate up to five bodies.
Red 9 - Increases firepower to 5.0
Blacktail - Increases firepower to 3.4
Matilda - Increases magazine capacity to 100.
Shotgun - Increases the effective damage range of the gun.
Riotgun - Increases firepower to 10.0

If you are low on health spray and herbs when at the lake take aim at the fish and fire away. When you hit a fish it floats. Jump in the boat and ride over the fish and take it. Depending on the size of the fish it will give you health.

When you are at the lake before you face Del Lago (the thing in the water) stand on the dock right before the water and start firing into the water. The creature will not appreciate this.

Hint: Get Two Attacks on Saddler
When fighting Saddler, knock him down and stand near his eyeball head so that the "Knife" action appears. Shoot him instead and then start tapping "A" to do the action attack as well.

In the Castle after you get out of the sewer you will appear at the top of a large ball room wear there are some monks doing a sacrifice. If you alert them they all run away but if you throw a grenade down every single person you kill will drop a spinel or a los illuminados pendent.

Hint: Green Or White?
Leon can't leave Ashley when he transitions into a new area (signified by the blurring effect); however, he can leave Ashley safe in the corner of a dangerous area then call her over when its safe. You can instantly tell if Leon is about to leave an area if the OPEN or context command is printed in green. If the command is printed in white, Leon will simply open the door to another section of the area. Use this to plan out where Leon can leave Ashley to brave the dangers ahead.

Hint: Chasing Ashley
The enemies who captures Ashley will seek to leave by the nearest area exit; these are the exits that have the "green" OPEN or context command as opposed to the normal "white" text. If they manage to reach one of these exits, then the game is over. When leaving Ashley to do stuff alone, be sure not to leave her near a green exit door.

Hint: Hide And Wait In The Village
When you first get to the village and you are having trouble escaping the chainsaw maniacs and other enemies, you can hide in a safe spot. Go to the tall tower in the east side of the village (check your map) and climb up the long ladder. The villagers cannot climb that particular ladder. This also works when you need to place Ashley in a safe spot when exploring this particular area.

Hint: Defeating Verdugo (Alien/Salazar's Right Hand) Boss
Not using the RL makes this fight harder, and in my opinion more fun, so try this if you choose not to buy a RL or don't have any cash. When you freeze him get close so the kick option appears, kick him down and he will stay frozen alot longer, allowing you to unload more rounds into him. Another tip if your using the BB when out of ammo freeze him at the next station reload THEN kick him over, you can still get at least 4 shots off. He will take about about 14 BB rounds at 20 damage a piece and a couple of Leon kicks to the face before he meets his doom. Plus you get an item worth 11000 Ptas for killing him.

When you get to the graveyard for the first time, Run up by the church and shoot the bell, 3 not-zombies will come running from where you entered, shoot, grab items, repeat.

Hint: Avoid Being A Victim Of The Saw
Erly in the game, when Leon first enters the village, he should avoid the door that belongs to the building where Leon can get a free shotgun (the largest northeast building). Simply do not run into the house that triggers the cutscene. While Leon will still need to kill zombies to progress, he will not have to deal with the chainsaw enemies, who may be fairly tough on the out-set. After the bell rings, feel free to enter the house and collect the items and shotgun inside.

Hint: Knifing Krauser's Kneecaps
Instead of wasting precious ammo on Krauser, wait until he gets close and exposes his vulnerable body (when he is not hiding behind his "wing") and slice his legs with Leon's knife. It's best to practise this on lone enemies beforehand. As long as you are alert to any "Dodge" opportunities, Leon should conserve a load of ammunition and be out of the fight fairly quickly.

Hint: Lava Bonus
When battling the two Gigantes bosses in the lava room, drop one in the fire pit. Then kill the other normally. Collect the $15,000 from the first boss and choose to leave the room. Re-enter the lava room and the money from the second boss (dropped into the lava) will be on the lava pit's edge. This oversight was corrected by Capcom on the PAL version.

Hint: Mine Ride Bonus
After the Mine Cart Ride, You must use timed Action Buttons to jump off the falling mine cart and get back on the oter side of the cliff. After, go to the next room and right as you step into the next room look to the left. There should be a pile of bones. Go up to them and the "TAKE" action botton will appear. In the pile of bones will be all the gold from the enimies that you killed(Granados, not the Chainsaw men. So take you prize(that can go up to being 10,000) and leave rich.

Easily selecting units
When you have many units of soldiers or vehicles, first select all the units. Then, press [Ctrl] and a number (0 to 9) to find the selected unit.

Prevent enemy from passing with Americans
When playing as the Americans, put six Rocket Soldiers and four Snipers inside a building. They will stop any enemy movement nearby, even the helicopter combat drop. The Rockets Soldiers will tear any vehicle and airship, while snipers take out Soldiers. You can use this to defend your base or specific places.

Helicopter pilots always eject with Americans
If you are playing as the Americans and a ranked (veteran, elite, or heroic) helicopter gets shot down, you can force the pilot to eject. Quickly use the green drag-box to attempt to select the helicopter as it is falling out of the sky. You will not actually select the crashing aircraft, but the pilot should eject every time.

Two armies for the price of one with GLA
Use Jarrem Kell to kill the driver of an USA or China Construction Dozer. Then, send a soldier or Jarrem inside the dozer. You will be able to construct all the installations of that army.

Allied artillery
Use the Strategy Center's Bombardment. It will be same as the Artillery. Note: If you shoot very close to the Strategy Center, it cannot fire.

Flying man
Destroy one of the GLA's assault trucks (Technicals) and the rebel in the back will go flying. Note: Sometimes the rebel can get hit when falling if there area lot of Technicals, however this is rare.

Honors
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "skirmishstats.ini" file in the "command and conquer generals data" folder. It can be found in "c:\my ********s\" or "c:\********s and settings\administrator\" in Windows XP. Change the Honors line to "Honors = 999999999999999". If you do not have the Honors line, enter that line under the Challenge line.

Super Strength With Squall
Once your GF's learn STR+10%, 20%, etc. set it on squall. Then junction to his strength tornadoes if you have 100 of them. With the lion heart and a flash-using trigger you could probably do 9999 damage every hit, which would work well with his limit break, Renzokuken

Get Cactuar GF
First before you try to get Cactuar you should be around level 60 and have the Levithian GF. You have to go to Cactuar Island which is in the southeast corner of the Esthar continent. You can distinguish it because of the big green Catuar that keeps appearing and disappearing on the island, this is the Jumbo Cactuar that you have to battle. You should equip the Revive and Recover Abilities on two different people because the Jumbo Cactuar uses the 10,000 needles ability which can wipe out a character in a single shot. The third person should be able to cast Life or Full Life spells. Also the Jumbo Cactuar is weak against water so use Levithian. The Battle is all about patience because you have to keep reviving your characters and attacking at the same time plus the Jumbo Cactuar has 60,000 HP. Have one character act as a medic while the other two attack. After attacking the Jumbo Cactuar for a while a little sign will appear saying that the Jumbo Cactuar is hesitating. Stop all your attacks at this point because he may runaway. Just use Levithian and your strongest attacks to finish him off before you! Stop. After you beat him you got the Cactuar GF. This is one of the best GFs in the game. When it's at level 100 he can do 10,000 points of damage and you will never have to boost, ever!

Hint: Level Up Quickly
There are two islands in the game called "the island closest to heaven" and "the island closest to hell". These two spots have the strongest monsters in the game.

"The island closest to heaven" is located just a bit east of the chocobo sanctuary and is shaped roughly like a box.

"The island closest to hell" is west of Deling City and is shaped like a bent cross.

These islands contain very powerful creatures, and killing them is guaranteed to raise your party a level with each battle. They may be too tough to take on if you're below level 60 or so.

Hint: Limit Break Trick
Here's a tip for getting "The End" for Selphie's limit break. When using her slots limit break, open your PlayStation lid. This will cause everything else to freeze while you can take your time to choose "The End" for the slots. When you're done, close the PlayStation lid to resume the action.

All missions, challenge modes, punishment modes, armory, war journal stuff, comic covers, concept art, flashbacks, movies, skins and cheats will be unlocked. Note: Style points will not be awarded while this code is enabled.

Alternate opening sequence
Allow the game to remain idle at the title screen for about twenty seconds to view an alternate opening with different dialogue and scenes.

Easy points
To achieve a high score, grab a human shield and use him. Shoot some enemies and try not to get hit. The longer you go without getting hit, the higher your points get. However, if you somehow get hit your points are rounded up and you must start again with not getting hit.

Easy style points
If you get hit once by your enemies, your style points will be on your score, and it would not be good enough for a massive score. Always take your time. Do not rush into every room because there is no time limit. If you are having difficulty shooting them, try aiming for precise headshots to kill them instantly. Use interrogations first then do the quick kill on them. Watch your back and keep an eye on enemy numbers. Be aware of where they are going to attack from and defeat multiple enemies without getting hit. This is the easiest way to achieve style points. Additionally, try the Golden Skulls special kills. White Skulls are special interrogation zones. If a mission's medal score seems to difficult for you on the stats screen, replay the level for another attempt. Use the fine aim mode for headshots. Mix up the violence in this game to achieve style points. Headshots is the best strategy to take down heavily armored opponents.

Special kills
When you grab enemies with skulls over their heads, you can get information from them. In order to do special kills, you must walk over to a purple skull shining out of the ground with the enemy. To do this, you must grab him and take him over to the purple skull. Then, use his own method.

Scared or disgusted enemies
If you get close enough (just slightly further than the Quick Kill/Grab point) an enemy will sometimes (especially in the earlier levels) back off, wave his hands as if to say "don't shoot" then say similar to "It-- it's you!!!!"; giving you time to shoot him. Also, sometimes by performing a quick kill near another enemy, sometimes they will put a hand over their mouth as though they are about to vomit, and say something similar to "I think I'm gonna be sick!" or "Oh my God!" followed by a vomiting sound. This also gives you some extra time to shoot the enemy. Note: This does not work on all Yakuza gang members.

Flashbacks
Interrogate enemies normally. If their words echoes, this indicates that you have unlocked a flashback. Replay the levels to unlock more of them.

Funeral home
When you reach the funeral home level, do not jump up and just shoot everyone. If you get out of the casket and do a quick kill on everyone in the room, you will earn a lot more points. You should keep one of them alive to use as a human shield. None of them have guns in that room.

Easy points at Stark Towers
At the end of the level, just before you destroy the helicopter and after all the enemies on the ground are dead, stand just outside the last door (when leaving the building stay to the right, but turn back towards the door). An enemy keeps respawning, and he comes out the same way every time. Grab him as soon as he comes out and take him back inside to interrogate, then kill him. Go back outside and wait to do it all over again. If done correctly, the helicopter will not hit you, and you can really rack up the point multiplier. Use all the different interrogations you can and alternate quick kills with knock outs, to boost the multiplier. You can get up to 450,000 points to spend on character upgrades by doing this about one hour.

Fisk Industries in Challenge mode
For this Challenge mode to be completed, you must kill 39 of Fisk's men, not including Bullseye, without reloading or picking up another weapon. After fighting Bullseye and after he jumps down to the next level, point your weapon upwards towards on a hole in the ceiling and shoot at the boxes. The boxes will fall down and a hidden guard will appear. He will not make himself known unless this is done. If you made it to the end of the Challenge and notice that only one guard is missing, this is where he will be.

Defeating Bullseye
When in KingPin's office, throw grenades at him. Do not try to shoot him unless you aim for the head; bullets do not hurt him. Just keep throwing grenades until he dies. Additionally, in the Fisks Industries level, you must fight someone called Bullseye. Bullseye is a hired bodyguard for the Kingpin. He is called that because he is always 100% when using weapons, even with a firearm. You cannot hit him on the body. He wears advanced armor that cannot be penetrated. His only weakness is his head. Just shoot him there. Do not stand there for more grenades to appear to throw or for use with the assault rifle's grenade launcher. Once Bullseye is defeated in stage 1, he will run to the elevator and disappear. In stage 2, you should be in a room with a nail gun interrogation and a lot of boarded up beams. Stage 2 will commence once he says "Hey Frank, about time you got here". Use the same strategy as before. Always aim for his head. Once his life is reduced to a certain point, you can move on. Eventually you should finally encounter him in Kingpin's office. Do the same thing here. Once he has no remaining energy, you have defeated him.

Defeating Bushwacker
To defeat Bushwacker you must do two things. First, aim for his head and fire. Eventually, his glasses will fall off. Once, his glasses are off it is a free for all as long as you have some flashbangs. If you do not have flashbangs, then just kill some henchmen and they will drop some. Begin launching flashbangs near Bushwacker and he will get disoriented. When he starts moving around like he is drunk, start shooting him. He will begin to fire his weapon, but most of the time he is inaccurate. He eventually will die after enough damage is taken.

Defeating the chopper at Stark Towers
When you reach this part of the level, you may be compelled to take the sniper rifle to your left. You can if desired, but it is not required. If you want to get out quick, run to the middle rock near the edge (where the chopper is flying). You will find an anti-tank launcher (rocket launcher) and what may be an unlimited ammo cache. Try to aim for the man with the rocket launcher in the chopper (usually on the right). After you hit him, keep firing missiles at the chopper. Make sure that you strafe (or at least keep moving), as there are snipers in almost all directions around you.

Defeating Jigsaw
Jigsaw is quite possibly the easiest fight in the game (if played smart). First, take out Jigsaw's jet pack. Simply walk over to a cargo crate. Make sure that you can see Jigsaw, but he cannot see or hit you. If you wait, Jigsaw will come to you. When he gets close enough, run under him. Then, just shoot his backpack and stay under Jigsaw. After a little cat and mouse, an intermission sequence will play. Jigsaw is now on foot. Jigsaw's way of defense are ten fast blasts and a large plasma ball. You will need to run in between boxes to throw him off your path. Run around until you see a guard, then finish him quick. The guard will drop a RAM explosive. These are used by walking up to a wall and pressing [Secondary Fire] once (while RAM is selected). The charge is now armed and ready for detonation. Get Jigsaw's attention by letting him see you. He will run after you. When he gets near the RAM, press your [Secondary Fire] again (maintain safe distance) and an explosion will blow off a piece of Jigsaw's armor. Repeat this procedure until Jigsaw falls to your punishment. Additionally, when you are fighting Jigsaw, get under him when he is in the air and shoot his jetpack. When he turns around, get behind him and shoot him again. Plant mines on the ground and detonate them when he walks by to finish him.

Defeating the Russian on the island
When you get off of the gondola, take a right into the shed. Do not go to the launch pad yet. Get the ammunition for the sniper rifle. Leave the shed and make a right to the steps to the missile launch pad. Walk up the steps and the Russian will say "We have to stop meeting like this, Big Boy!". He will stay on the catwalk above, throwing flaming barrels at you. Shooting him is useless. Watch the Russian through your more precise aiming (it is easier this way). When he lifts a barrel, he will walk a little way, lift it above his head, and it will catch fire. Shoot the barrel while it is on fire before he throws it at you. It will explode in his face. After two or three explosions, guards will begin to appear from the right and left sides of the map. Take them out if they give you a problem, however try to focus on the Russian. After the Russian's life gets half-way down, an intermission sequence featuring him catching ablaze will play. He will then jump down and chase after you. Get him to chase you into the piles of barrels scattered in the corners of the map. There is one barrel in each pile that will light (usually the brightest one). Get the Russian to walk into the barrel and it will ignite. Then, shoot the barrel to blow it up on the Russian. Be careful not to get too close or you will sustain damage. After about four to five explosions, he will be defeated. Note: If the Russian runs into a guard, the guard will also catch fire.

Captain American and Sunfire reference
In the Takagi Building, after you interrogate a member of the Eternal Sun he runs into the bathroom to distract Yasuke. He then asks Yasuke who would win in a fight between Captain America and Captain Japan. Yasuke says that there is no Captain Japan, that his name is Sunfire, and that Sunfire would probably win. Captain America is from the Captain America/Avengers comics and Sunfire is from the X-Men comics.

Comic book reference
In the Funeral Home level, one of the Gnucci's tells you that you can get in a room by tilting the statue in the bedroom. The statue is that of a polar bear. This is a tribute to Garth Ennis' "Welcome Back, Frank" comic, because Ma Gnucci is mauled by a polar bear in the zoo after Frank punches it in the face.

Daredevil references
When in Lucky's bar, two men will be talking. One asks "Who do you think would win in a fight between Daredevil and Sonny Corleone?" The other one will say, "You idiot. Daredevil's a comic book character." Daredevil comics were made by the same company that made The Punisher comics. The irony is that later The Punisher's lawyer is Matt Murdoch (the real life identity of Daredevil). Also, later two Yakuza will be talking about Daredevil talking on one hundred of their men hopped up on some drugs. Additionally, after the battle with Bullseye, Frank's blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Daredevil's alter ego) comes in and Frank fires him.

Half-Life reference
At the beginning of the Stark Towers level when the Yakuza start their attack, the scientists working behind the glass talk about an interdimensional portal, and one refers to the other as Doctor Freeman. Gordon Freeman is the main character in the popular Half-Life game series by Valve Software.

Hulk reference
Go to any laptop during game play and look directly at the screen. The figure of the Hulk will appear, flexing.

Iron Man reference
When the chopper first starts shooting at you, Iron Man flies in to give you a quick heads up. He then flies around the corner of the building.

Programming reference
In Fisk Industries, when you interrogate the man to ask how to stop the turrets, he tells you the access code is "217". That is the area code for Champaign, IL, where the game was developed.

Sesame Street reference
If you choose to side with the Mafia at the slaughterhouse, when you get to a certain point you will hear two men. One will say "Damn they killed Ernie!" The other will say, "First Bert, now Ernie. We'll get those bastards." Bert and Ernie are the names of Sesame Street characters.

Spider-Man reference
During the intermission sequence immediately after the Crackhouse level, look closely at the license plate of the car that tries to hit Frank. Notice that it reads "ASM129". The Punisher first made his appearance in "Amazing Spider Man issue #129".

Writer reference
The first guard you encounter in Ryker's will be held up by a prisoner. The prisoner refers to him by the name "Dixon". He is named after Chuck Dixon, a writer for the Punisher comics, Daredevil comics, and Marvel Knights comics.
