Techniques of WAN (Wide Area Network):

1- FR. (Frame Relay) 2- DSL 3- ATM 4- ISDN …

Transmission types:

1) Single: transmission in one direction only.

2) Half duplex: transmission in the two directions but not at the same time.

3) Full duplex: transmission in the two directions at the same time.

(ISO), (ORGANIZATION)

OSI Model:

- Contents of 7 layers. ** The Layers

7- Application layer:

- It provide user interface (the person who is act with the network).

- Protocol: HTTP, IMAP, POP, SNMP, TELNET…

6- Presentation layer:

- Define how information is represented to the user.

- Put extension for the data.

5- Session layer:

Makes establish Maintaining and terminating the connection across the network.

4- Transport layer:

- Divide the row of data stream into segment.

- Manage flow control of data through windowing, Acknowledgment and error Recovery.

Ex. TCP, UDP.

- Remember as reliability.
