The publication of the 7th edition of Clinical Gynecologic Endocrinology and Infertility marks a milestone in the evolution of this text—the first step in a planned transition to completely new authorship. For more than 3 decades and through 6 editions, copies of this book have made their way onto desks and into classrooms and libraries around the world. During this period, our text has tried to assimilate, constructively critique, organize, and disseminate the dazzling array of advances achieved in reproductive sciences and their impact on clinical practice. Throughout we have been guided by the goals set out in the Preface to the 1st edition:Our objectives in offering this text are twofold. First we hope to transmit our conviction that the field of reproductive endocrinology has matured beyond a mystifying catalogue of clinical and research observations of an organ system. It has become a clinical science, which despite its complexity possesses a logical orderliness based on physiology.
